DO YOU BELIEVE IN JOURNALISM?
Let’s talk about your relationship with journalism. If you want to develop a strong belief in journalism, you must assess your current thoughts or viewpoints about journalism. I believe a strong faith in journalism can transform you. You may not feel that you hold a strong faith in journalism, the broadcast news industry, your television station, your newsroom, or yourself right now. That’s okay. The industry can be tough, horrible, and downright discouraging to idealistic journalists. Many who work in broadcast journalism often lose faith in journalism quickly, that is, if they ever had faith in it from the start. Maybe you never really considered yourself a great journalist. Maybe you are fearful, or too timid, or you don’t think you’ve got what it takes to bring change to our industry. Maybe you’re the type who comes on too strong and needs a dose of humility. It doesn’t matter where you are on your journey. I believe if you discover or revive your faith in journalism you can become an amazing journalist.
